And Windows Media Centre?

Part of our media set up, that has worked really well for us, is using Windows Media Centre. We have all our music and a large selection of documentaries and short video clips. The Media Center software is easy to use for kids and requires only a remote control, rather than a mouse and keyboard. Even a child who is not yet reading can operate the remote, and choose a clip using the pictures that Media Centre displays for each video.

Furthermore, children often want to, and benefit from, watching the piece they are currently interested in, over and over and over and over. This is easy for them to achieve themselves, using a remote.

If you have windows 7, you already have the software you need.
